What is the chamber of commerce?

The North Penn Chamber of Commerce is a not-for-profit business organization with over 1,000 members from the North Penn and Indian Valley regions and beyond. According to our Mission Statement, The North Penn Chamber of Commerce is organized to preserve and enhance the interests of its members and the business community by improving the general welfare and prosperity of the region.

How does the chamber fulfill its purpose to benefit its members and to improve the region?

Several ways. For one, we have many exclusive benefits for our members such as group health insurance. (For a full list of member benefits, click here.) In addition, the chamber benefits the region by serving as an advocate for the business community in such issues as economic development and legislative reform.

How can I become involved?

There are many avenues. Our chamber is among the most active business organizations in Southeastern Pennsylvania. We have different events and activities each month (click here for listing) to which members are invited to attend, according to their interests. Additionally, members may become involved by participating on committees (click here for list).

Are there opportunities to meet other business people?

Absolutely. Indeed, networking with other business leaders is perhaps the number one issue why many small business people join a chamber of commerce. Many people want to be part of the chamber so that they can network with and meet other business leaders so as to promote and sell their products and services. The chamber gives its members access to people they may not otherwise have without being a part of a large business organization. We help people open doors to opportunities.

Are all chambers of commerce the same?

Not necessarily. For example, in Montgomery County, there are 14 separate chambers representing different areas of the county. However, each of those chambers has its own focus and program of activities. The biggest consideration is usually where you business is located, and where your target market is for the products and services you offer. Many businesses see the benefit of belonging to more than one chamber of commerce - there is no limitation.

What is your area of service?

Generally, the North Penn Chamber represents businesses that are located in - or whose market territory includes - the North Penn and Souderton school districts. We represent many businesses in the following areas: Blue Bell, Chalfont, Colmar, Franconia, Harleysville, Hatfield, Kulpsville, Lansdale, Line Lexington, Lower Gwynedd, Lower Salford, Mainland, Montgomeryville, North Wales, Salford, Souderton, Telford, Towamencin, Upper Gwynedd, Upper Salford, West Point, Whitpain, and Worcester. To see a map of our service area, click here.

How much does it cost to join the chamber?

The cost of the annual investment depends upon several factors, the most important of which is the number of employees a business has. Larger businesses pay more to be in the chamber than smaller businesses. For a complete breakdown of the cost of the investment, click here. The investment is tax deductible as a business expense. For a typical small business with three or fewer members, the after-deduction cost is less than $10.00 per month, small price to pay for supporting a community-based business organization that offers great benefits.
